Tarah Staton, Principal

Mrs. Staton has been in education for 19 years as a teacher, coach, and an administrator. She originally is from the state of Washington where she attended Northwest University and played college basketball. Ms. Staton received her Masters Degree from Grand Canyon University.

Prior to coming to Florence, Ms. Staton was an assistant principal at McNeil High School and an assistant principal in Georgetown ISD. Ms. Staton taught English Language Arts and social studies at the secondary level in Washington and Texas, and also was a high school girls basketball head coach in Washington. 

“I am excited to join the HERD and help students and staff meet and exceed their potential as learners and as individuals. Additionally, I am looking forward to meeting our students, families, and the community of Florence ISD and together create a partnership to continue to strengthen our campus and district. Lauren Neil, Assistant Principal

Mrs. Neil has been in education for 10 years as a teacher, coach, athletic coordinator and an administrator. She attended the University of Texas at Austin, Hook’em Horns, and received her Bachelor’s degree in Applied Movement Science. Mrs. Neil received her Masters Degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Prior to coming to Florence, Mrs. Neil was an assistant principal at Wagner Middle School in Georgetown ISD. Before moving into administration Mrs. Neil served as a Girls Athletic Coordinator and coach teaching PE, pre-athletics, and athletics. Mrs. Neil also taught 8th grade Science for 4 years.

Mrs. Neil is looking forward to joining the HERD at FMS. She believes that all students are deserving of a quality education and is excited to assist students and staff with their educational journey. Mrs. Neil is committed to partnering with the community in an effort to develop skills within our students that allow them to be successful in their future endeavors.
