Checklist for Senior Students

• Meet with your counselor to discuss your final list of schools. You should have
narrowed the list down to 5 or less by this time.
• Visit internet resources to familiarize yourself with the application process such as
  www.collegeforalltexans.com
• Be sure to have a timeline with all the necessary deadlines for applications,
scholarships, and residency and follow the deadlines.
• October/November submit your application and application fees. If an essay is
required have at least two adults preview it before you submit. Most high school
English teachers will be happy to help.
• Complete the form in the counselor's office to request your high school transcript, college
admission test scores, a copy of your schedule and immunizations, and any other
school records required by your colleges.
• Visit with teachers and counselors who need to write recommendation letters for you.
Make sure they have a copy of your resume and know about your interests and
  activities.
• Take the ACT and /or the SAT again (especially if you are considering a college with
selective admissions or you think you will be eligible for scholarships). Check to see
if you are eligible for fee waivers.
• Obtain your FASFA PIN number and complete the FAFSA after January 1st.
• Begin to search for scholarships. Check in regularly at the Counselor’s
office for a listing of scholarships or check the school website, " Counselor’s Corner".
