Officer Odom Becomes District's School Resource Officer

As part of our continuing effort to improve the safety and security at our schools, Florence ISD is excited to announce a new partnership with The City of Florence and its Police Department for the addition of a School Resource Officer (SRO).  The agreement for this partnership was presented to the FISD Board of Trustees by Superintendent Paul Michalewicz and Police Chief Adam Marsh at the September board meeting where it was unanimously approved.   Florence ISD and the Florence Police Department recognize the potential for the outstanding public benefits that this partnership will provide to the students, teachers, and staff of FISD and to the citizens of Florence.  The SRO will help build a positive rapport with our students, present a positive law enforcement role model, expand and support awareness programs related to issues that impact our students, as well as add another layer of safety and security to our school environment.

Officer Wyatt Odom has been selected to fill this vital role.  A native of Bell County, Officer Odom attended Florence ISD for all of his school years, participating in all varsity sports.  Upon graduation from FHS, he obtained a Criminal Justice degree from Lamar University, graduating with honors.  Though his office will be based at FHS, he will be working with students and staff at all three campuses.  We are very excited to welcome Officer Odom and look forward to a successful and mutually beneficial partnership.
