FISD kicked off the new school year by welcoming back our outstanding faculty and staff!  Breakfast was served by Board Members Ed Navarette, Dena Shelton and J.T. Atkinson along with Principals Steve Elder, Catherine Beckerley and Kay Bradford.   Honored guests included Precinct 3 Commissioner Valerie Covey and her assistant Debra Babcock, Florence Police Chief Adam Marsh, Florence Mayor Mary Condon, City Secretary Amy Crane, Chamber of Commerce Members Jennifer Moreland, Peggy Morse and Joann Hall, Robin Williams with Verabank, FISD Education Foundation member Joe Maines, along with representatives from Horace Mann and A+ Federal Credit Union.  Our keynote speaker, Dr. Ralph Draper, did an amazing job of inspiring and encouraging everyone to be “all about the kids”.  There were door prizes, fun and lots of fellowship between returning staff, along with getting to know our newcomers.  Our teachers are participating daily in Professional Development and working hard getting their classrooms and hallways prepared to welcome our Buffs back to school on Thursday.   GO BUFFS!
