At the February 16, 2023 Special Called Board Meeting, the FISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to name Rick Kirkpatrick as the lone finalist for superintendent.

The selection of the lone finalist by FISD’s school board starts a state-mandated 21-day waiting period before Mr. Kirkpatrick will be able to officially sign an employment contract.

 An educator since 1993, Kirkpatrick earned his bachelor degree from the University of Texas at Austin, and holds a master's degree in Education Administration.  Kirkpatrick and his wife, Angela, have two children, Kaylyn and Richard.
