Substitute Requirements

  • Applicants must have a high school diploma and are preferred to have at least two years of work related experience, i.e. daycare, teaching aide, private school teaching, YMCA after-school.
  • Applicants must have a willingness to support the success of students.

Welcome and thank you for chosing Florence Independent School District to become a substitute teacher! This site is meant to provide information to get you started as you apply for the job of a district-wide substitute. We are excited to have you as part of the Florence ISD team and look forward to seeing you supporting the students across the district.

HIRING STEPS:

  1. Apply online at our careers page. Be sure to fill in the information for three references, including at least one former or current supervisor. Make sure to include your birthdate where indicated. We cannot move forward without this information.
  2. Thank you for your patience while the district reviews your credentials, references, and experience.
  3. Once approved, look for an email regarding fingerprinting. The district uses IdentoGo for fingerprinting. If you have worked in a school district in the past, you may not need to be printed again, but we will check for you. You will receive another email with the IdentoGo information, which is easy to follow for scheduling your fingerprinting near you. While the district does not reimburse the cost for fingerprinting, it ensures the safety of you and other district employees.
  4. After we receive results back, which happens automatically, and you are clear, you will be sent an email for your new hire paperwork! This email will come from TalentEd (PowerSchool). Be sure to look in your spam or junk folders.
  5. After you have filled out all of that paperwork, we invite you to come into the administration building so we are able to examine your I9 documents, as required by law.
  6. And then...

YOU’RE HIRED!

  1. There will be a mandatory, in-person safety training required of you to attend. If this training is scheduled to take place before you are through the entire hiring process, please reach out to Human Resources to discuss your ability to attend at that time.
  2. Substitutes are also required to complete some online training by a certain date. That information will be shared with you upon completion of all other steps.
