Florence ISD is committed to addressing student and parent concerns promptly and fairly. Below is the formal grievance process based on District policy FNG (LOCAL).
Step 1: Informal Resolution
- Begin by discussing your concern with the appropriate teacher, principal, or campus administrator.
- Informal resolution is encouraged but does not extend deadlines for filing a formal complaint.
Step 2: Filing a Formal Complaint
- Who can file? Students, parents, legal guardians, or individuals standing in parental relation.
- Deadline: File within 15 business days of when you first knew (or should have known) about the issue.
- How to file: Submit the District’s complaint form by hand, email, fax, or U.S. Mail.
- Where to file: With the lowest-level administrator who can address the issue (usually the campus principal).
Step 3: Level One – Campus Principal
- The principal will schedule a conference within 15 business days of receiving your complaint.
- You will receive a written response within 15 business days after the conference.
Step 4: Level Two – Superintendent
- If you are not satisfied with Level One, file an appeal within 15 business days of the Level One response (or its deadline).
- The Superintendent (or designee) will hold a conference within 15 business days and provide a written response within 15 business days after the conference.
Step 5: Level Three – Board of Trustees
- If you are not satisfied with Level Two, file an appeal within 15 business days of the Level Two response (or its deadline).
- The Board will hear your complaint within 60 calendar days and record the presentation.
